Students at Chattanooga State Community College are currently sheltering in place following an alert from the school that provided limited details about the ongoing situation.
The initial alert was issued at 8:52 a.m., followed by a social media post advising students to notify campus security in case of a medical emergency or personal crisis.
Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services reported that law enforcement is actively investigating the scene, while medical personnel are on standby nearby.
During a news conference at 10:34 a.m., local officials stated that no gunfire had been seen or heard since their arrival on campus. Police have not located any injured individuals or identified suspects. Authorities described the initial 911 call as 'a little confusing,' mentioning a possible kidnapping involving firearms.
As of 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, the campus had not yet received an all-clear.
